The Chesapeake Bay watershed is North America's largest estuary, supporting 18 million people and more than 3,600 plants and animals. This is a special place where families make memories, wildlife thrives and history runs deep. Yet this critical area is imperiled, losing some 54 acres of forest each day and additional land to development and water-level rise.
The Chesapeake Conservancy is dedicated to preserving these special places for generations to enjoy and biodiversity to flourish. The Conservancy uses groundbreaking data to identify and protect valuable land, enact sound conservation policy and restore impaired streams.
Angie and I are deeply engaged with the Conservancy as a board leader, advisers and donors. We have seen firsthand its outstanding work that is making a significant difference.
