Sometimes it's hard to break through the noise of what all is wrong and worrisome. Then we step outside and feel the sun on our face, and it all feels a bit better.

How many of us have warm memories of toes in the sand, watching the antics of shorebirds, sailing across the waves with the wind, or snorkeling to discover the life teeming below? I can tell you lots of facts and figures, but I bet your heart already knows how special and irreplaceable the places in nature are that we love.

Can I ask your help in fighting for one of those special places, the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed lands spanning six states and the District of Columbia, fed by over 100,000 creeks, streams and rivers?

The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is the largest estuary in North America, supporting 18 million people and over 3,600 plants and animals. Yet these valuable lands are under constant threat, losing an average of 54 acres of forest each day and additional lands to development and water level rise. These are special places where families make memories, wildlife thrives and where history runs deep.

Chesapeake Conservancy is dedicated to preserving these special places for generations to come so that all may enjoy and biodiversity can flourish. They are using ground breaking data to identify valuable lands to protect and enact sound conservation policy in addition to restoring impaired streams.
