The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is the largest estuary in North America, supporting 18 million people and over 3,600 plants and animals. Yet these valuable lands are under constant threat, losing an average of 54 acres of forest each day and additional lands to development and water level rise. These are special places where families make memories, wildlife thrives and where history runs deep.

The Chesapeake Conservation Partnership (CCP) is dedicated to fostering collaborative action to conserve culturally and ecologically important landscapes to benefit people, economies, and nature throughout the six-­state watershed, including D.C. CCP is a collaborative of 117 partners (federal, state, nonprofit, land trust and tribes), whose members are all working toward achieving collective land conservation goals, such as conserving 30% of the Chesapeake Bay watershed by 2030. It is co-convened by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and the Chesapeake Conservancy. 

The Chesapeake Conservation Partnership plays the role of the collaborative glue that brings partners together from across the watershed to learn from one another, model policies that they can lift up in their region, strategize around cross-boundary conservation planning, and provide support for their collective needs. CCP provides this support by using groundbreaking data to identify valuable lands to protect and track progress, offering training and technical assistance tools, and enhancing and uplifting conservation messaging.
