I’m thrilled to be participating in 20th Annual Steppin' Up to End Violence, a fundraiser supporting The Center for Safer Communities! I’m passionate about this cause and need your help! Every donation—big or small—helps me reach my fundraising goal and directly impacts this important cause. As a survivor of domestic abuse, I know it took an organization similar to this one to help me safely break free. As a victim, it is difficult to get help from family and friends because you don't want them to get involved in the violence. Indeed the abuser will get more violent, if you tell anyone, or try to leave. Often you have been robbed of any financial independence in order to make leaving unaffordable.

For those living in fear, wondering what the future will be, know this, "My worst day free from my abuser, was better than my best day with him." We are so fortunate to have this resource in our community.  The number of people who walk/run and donate during the Steppin Up 5K shows the commitment we have to creating a safer community for everyone. CSC has many programs that prevent abuse and bullying by working in schools to educate on healthy relationships and warnings of unhealthy ones.
