Who is JJ? JJ is a mama's boy for sure! You can find him cuddled up with mama watching a YouTube video or playing side by side roblox. He will have you dancing in the livingroom to a *light party* or doing a science experiment in the kitchen with Daddy. JJ is full of energy and you can find him outside during summer time! He loves helping grandpa with the yard work or his bobo with watering her flowers. JJ loves trying new things and recently tried pickleball. He has an obsession with funko pops thanks to his uncle Randy . JJ is our whole world and is loved more then he can ever imagine ♥️
He was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 at birth, a condition that was passed down from my husband, who also has neurofibromatosis. As a mother, I often feel exhausted trying to remain calm whenever he gets sick, and I struggle to avoid jumping to conclusions about the cause of his symptoms. Every new spot, lump, or symptom makes my mind go to places i wish it didn't. JJ is now at the age to understand it isn't the norm to have so many Dr. appointments. He now asks questions about why he has to go to the Dr's so much, why he has to have MRIs. I sometimes struggle with how to answer him and how much to tell him. I know his condition can get worse with age, and anything can happen at anytime. But I struggle with when to explain that to him.
JJ struggles with his feelings about school, often disliking it because of his disability and his difficulty understanding the material being taught.
JJ is facing academic challenges in school, which are contributing to behavioral issues. He works with a special education teacher and receives additional support in occupational therapy, physical therapy, math, speech, reading, and writing. He particularly struggles with any work that is timed, which has affected his confidence. JJ has a whole team behind him and we will never give up. He will regain his confidence, and we won’t stop until he receives all the help he needs with his learning disability.
