Neurofibromatosis (NF), pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis, is a group of genetic disorders of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. It is the most common genetic disorder caused by a single gene and affects three times as many people as muscular dystrophy, Huntington's disease, Tay Sachs, and cystic fibrosis combined.
Neurofibromatosis Northeast (NF Northeast) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Burlington, MA which serves patients and families throughout the Northeast. Our vision is a world where the burden of the genetic disorder known as Neurofibromatosis (NF) does not exist. Please visit us at www.nfnortheast.org to learn more.
