The CHF says that your donation goes to funding the most promising reseach. 

I say it goes to answering questions. 

One question Chase has asked (kindly, lovingly, and frequently) in the past year is: "Mom, did you do something wrong when you were pregnant with me? Is that why I have a heart defect?" 

I wish I could answer the true question: what caused Chase's heart defect. I can't. 

Chase was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta when he was three years old. A few weeks later, he had his surgery. It was a hard, scary time for the family. Since then, he's followed up regularly with his amazing doctors at STL Children's Hospital, who he loves and trusts. In February 2025, Chase will have the most comprehensive testing he's completed since he was three. We're confident he is receiving the best possible care from providers who truly know him. 

Now, Chase is eleven years old and starting 6th grade. He's an avid drummer and baseball player. This summer, Chase attended Camp Rhythm. He's very lucky to have a Heart Community in addition to all of his other friends, family, neighbors, classmates, and other supports.
