Why I Serve

In 1995, when I was 10 years old, I lost my dad to cancer. My world was turned upside down, and I didn’t have a place like Storybook Farm to help me through that pain. Looking back, I know how much a sanctuary like this could have meant for me, a place to heal, to find hope, and to simply be a kid again. That is why I serve as Chairman of the Board at Storybook Farm. I believe God gives meaning to our pain when we use it to help others. As 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” The children who come here are facing their own hardships, including illness, loss, anxiety, and brokenness. At Storybook, they find comfort, joy, and the chance to reclaim their childhood. I am grateful to give my time and heart to this mission, and I am humbled to see how God works through Storybook Farm to change lives.
