I need your help! I’m raising funds for the non-profit Mount Washington Observatory. I’m doing so to honor my dad ***** BRIGGS BUNKER ******* the local weather man in the Mount Washington Valley for 44 years. Dad began his volunteering as a local weather observer in 1973, taking over from the legendary Joe Dodge. Briggs appeared live every day on the MWMV radio station’s ‘Morning Weather Show’ to delivery the Valley’s weather report, forecast and rating for the day. After his report, the observer on duty on the top of Mount Washington would deliver the day’s mountain weather report and forecast.
Briggs just turned 90 and faithfully listens to the Morning Weather Show, now hosted by Ed Bergeron. While he won’t be hiking with me on Seek the Peek weekend, he’ll be along in spirit! Please donate whatever you can to help the two of us make this event a “50 Cent” day!!
In July of 2021 I'll be climbing 6,288-foot Mount Washington, N.H. as a participant in 21st annual Seek the Peak, in support of the legendary non-profit Mount Washington Observatory. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support my hike.
Due to the generosity of supporters the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory has been observing and reporting on Mount Washington’s infamous conditions for nearly 90 years from their mountaintop weather station, maintaining one of North America's longest continuous climate records. The data they collect is utilized in forecasting models, weather reports, landmark climate research and a variety of educational outreach.
Please join me in supporting this legendary institution by making a donation towards my outdoor adventure. All gifts are fully tax-deductible, and will help Mount Washington Observatory continue their important work in the Home of the World’s Worst Weather.
