Vicki Holmes was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She had a kind heart and was always willing to help a friend in need.  She was very bright and organized, and had an attention for detail. 

But in May of 2018, Vicki became forgetful and disorganized, and could no longer work.  A month later, she had a minor car accident.  We realized her problem was serious as doctor's visits and testing began.  In September, she wandered out of the house, not knowing where she was going.  She would no longer be left alone.  In October, she was hospitalized and had more testing done.  With no conclusive results, we were referred to specialists in Cleveland, Ohio.  We made the trip to Cleveland for more tests and examinations.  We received the diagnosis of CJD in November of 2018.  

Vicki would live with CJD longer than most people.  She passed away on September 8th, 2019, which was 3 weeks after her 50th birthday - a milestone we thought Vicki would not see.   

We would like to raise money for CJD research with the hope that a treatment or cure may be found someday.  We would also like to raise awareness of the disease that took Vicki from us way too soon.  And finally, we would like to honor and celebrate Vicki's life with one of her favorite activities - walking.  We walked together in organized walks, fundraising walks, and around our neighborhood.

Strides for CJD is virtual this year.  We will be gathering as a small group and walking locally on the weekend of October 10th and 11th.  A date, time, and location will be decided later.
