When we stride together on October 21, 2023, it will have been 4 years and 16 days since we lost my dad, Mark Montgomery on October 5, 2019 to CJD.  The world has changed dramatically since that day as a whole, and for us individually.  The impact he had on those who knew him remains unchanged whether it was a short friendship or a lifelong relationship.  This disease strikes unpredictably, but sadly, the outcome still to this day IS predictable.  We come together each year with other affected families to raise awareness and funds for research about this disease.  We hope to one day have an explanation, treatment, and cure for CJD!

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
