Our Team Fundraising Page

Bill was married to his wife Donna and father of two children – Shawn and Heather. He passed away at just 60 years old from sporadic CJD.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy and a lineman for New Jersey Bell for many years, and an owner of Neptune’s Den SCUBA Shop in Hackettstown, NJ.

He was deeply involved with his passion for dogs.  He was one of the founding members of both the United States Neapolitan Mastiff Club and the Garden State Neapolitan Mastiff Club.  He showed his dogs in many states, even Canada, and bred some amazing champions.

We walk to honor his memory and the memories we had with him.  We walk to give awareness to this disease so that others don't have to endure the loss of their loved one.

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
