Hello!

My name is Liz Wiggans and I am currently raising money for STRIDES FOR CJD. As many of you may already know, my father, Kirt Baker, passed away from CJD in 2021. CJD, or Creutzfeldt Jakob's disease is a fatal neurodegenerative prion disease. It comes in 3 different forms; genetic, sporadic and iatrogenic. Kirt suffered from the genetic variant. As we navigated through this terrible disorder, we discovered many other extended family members who have also battled this beast. There is no cure for CJD, very little treatment options available and it is currently 100% fatal. 

Recently, I underwent genetic testing to see if I was a carrier for the CJD gene. I have since learned that I am unfortunately positive for the gene. Matthew and I are raising money this STRIDES walk in hopes for better research, better future treatment options and to spread awareness of this very rare condition. If you are able, any donation to this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated. The STRIDES walk will take place in mid October in Pittsburg, PA. My mother, Susan, and brother and sister in law, Ted and Emily will also be participating. We truly appreciated your kindness and will keep fighting for a cure for CJD.
