It's not "Why him or her".  It's "Why you should donate and, if you can, partipate in the Strides for CJD-Chicago Area event on October 14". "Why him or her" has no answer; it's just one of those horrid things in life that some of us just have to accept happened.  But the "Why donate" is so important because it provides a sense of power over this terrible disease.  With our donations to the CJD Foundation, we are funding research and education that can literally change lives now and in the future.  While we still don't have cures or treatments or preventatives, we have HOPE.  The research being done is amazing and on the cusp of greatness - and that is not an exaggeration.  The researchers working on CJD are so incredibly dedicated to finding that breakthrough medical intervention that it's breathtaking.  So while "why him or her" will always be in the back of our minds, we move forward with lives they would have wanted us to have and to help prevent this disease from taking so many people away from their lives and loved ones in the years to come.
