Strides for CJD - Bakersfield

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure.

Register or donate to this event to pay tribute to loved ones and show support for friends and families affected by CJD.

Money raised for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, will provide family support, medical education and research programs.

How much is registration?

Adults - Early bird registration is $30.00 until midnight on September 12. After midnight the cost will be $35.00.
Children 12 and under - Early bird registration is $20.00 until midnight on September 12. After midnight the cost will be $25.00.
Each registration includes 5 raffle tickets. Extra raffle tickets can be purchased during the registration process.

On Sunday, October 13, supporters of those affected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) will gather at Lake Ming for the 2nd Annual Strides 4 CJD in memory of Bakersfield’s 25th Mayor and EMS pioneer Harvey L. Hall.

Participants have their choice of a 2-Mile Leisure Walk or 5K Run.

This is a K-9 friendly event. Dogs on leashes are welcome!

Strides 4 CJD enables families to pay tribute to loved ones and raise awareness of this rare neurodegenerative disease that currently has no treatment or cure. CJD is caused by “prions,” proteins that can misfold in the brain, with devastating effect, including rapid mental and physical deterioration. Prion diseases are invariably fatal.

Mayor Hall succumbed to the sporadic form of CJD on May 19, 2018. To honor him and bring awareness to CJD, the Hall Family has joined with the national CJD Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization, to raise funds to provide family support, medical education, and research programs.

Last year, Strides 4 CJD Bakersfield was recognized as the Top Fundraising Site and Team Big H in Memory of Harvey L. Hall, was the Top Fundraising Team in the United States!

Help us keep the momentum going as we raise funds for the CJD Foundation to provide family support, medical education, and funding for research programs related to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.


