Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure.  This event pays tribute to loved ones and raises funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, to provide family support, medical education and research programs.

My mother, CJ Smith, was diagnosed in July 2007 and passed away on September 7, 2007 at the age of 59.  CJ was a brilliant, hilarious, kind, fun-loving woman who was taken too soon by this monster disease.
