In December 2017, my mother passed away from CJD. We were shattered and beyond heartbroken. My family and I had never heard of this horrific disease until our mother was diagnosed. She started showing stroke like symptoms 6 weeks prior to her death. Then, she progressively went down hill with memory loss and seizures. She was hospitalized and transferred to Cleveland Clinic where we received her diagnosis. CJD is extremely rare and always fatal. Not lot is known about it. We have made it our mission to help raise funds for research in hopes to find a cure one day! Strides for CJD is one of the ways we achieve this yearly.
