Strides for CJD 2021

Dear Mom,

This is the hardest thing that I do every year Mommy. I wish we never had to start doing this but, I know you would be doing it for us, for that reason I keep doing this walk. You wanted to be involved in finding a cure for RP and you wanted to donate your eyes for that research. Well Mommy, you couldn't do that because this disease took what was left of your vision then stayed in your eyes and made the disease contagious. So, just like YOU always did, we go with the cards we're dealt and we do this walk to find a cure for CJD.

I hope that, even though this disease took everything from you, you got to the end with your dignity in tact, with your family at your side always and your heart filled with love. You were so loved by so many people, I don't think you even realized the way you affected the world around you. I can only hope one day that people will say "She's just like her mother".

To say that I miss you would be understating the loneliness I feel without you. I look out the window and I see the cardinals and rabbits and know you are here with me.

I love you to the moon Mommy! Until I see you again...
