Evelyn Limoges Kendall, known as “Tootz” to her grandchildren was a lot of things for different people. She was a mother, daughter, sister, friend, domino partner, poker player, hard-worker, caregiver, and so much more. She was the perfect happy hour partner, the hostess with the mostest, an adventurous travel companion, the worst storyteller, and had the answer to so many of our questions. She had a laugh that could really get you going, the corniest jokes, and a smile that could light up the whole room. She was the glue to our family, and we miss her daily.

For those who don't know Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) disease is a rare, horrific, and aggressive neurodegenerative disease.

Evelyn started to feel “off” around Mother's Day in May 2019. She had her first MRI on June 4th, followed by 2 more MRI’s, as well as 5 additional doctors appointments all in June. She was hospitalized on July 3rd. Her family was told it was stress induced symptoms and was encouraged to move her into an assisted living facility. Her daughters knew there was more to the story and against hospital orders discharged her from Baylor Scott White Grapevine and moved her to UT Southwestern in Dallas on July 10th. Within hours of being at UTSW the doctor was confident that this was not "just stress." By July 16th she was no longer able to communicate, on the 18th she was clinically diagnosed with CJD, she was moved to hospice on July 25th, and on August 2nd her daughters held her hand as she left this world and met Jesus. She was 59.
