Kimberly

My connection to diabetes began when my father was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. After his diagnosis our family focused on learning about diabetes, and made lifestyle changes, including healthy diets and exercise. I wanted to help raise awareness about diabetes and have spoken about preventing and managing diabetes across Minnesota.

When I was crowned Mrs. Minnesota International, “Stop the Shot” (reference to insulin injections) diabetes awareness and education was my platform. After hanging up my crown, I have continued to speak about diabetes, and was asked to join the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation as a trustee.

My service as a Lion, and on the Foundation, continues my advocacy for diabetes prevention and awareness, as well as research to find a cure.
