I am reaching out to share something close to my heart. This year, I have created a team to support my father, Andrew Medas for the Strides for CJD fundraising event in Boston, MA. 

As some of you know, my father was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare and devastating neurodegenerative disorder with no known cure or treatment in June.

The CJD Foundation, a dedicated non-profit organization, is crucial in the fight against this disease. They work tirelessly to spread awareness, support families, fund research, and strive for a cure. When my father was diagnosed, our family faced immense uncertainty and distress. The foundation is there to support us through these dark times, and their efforts have brought significant progress in understanding and diagnosing CJD.

Thanks to the foundation’s work and powerful advocacy efforts, including the support of Akin Gump and bipartisan Congressional champions, we’ve seen promising advancements. The CDC and NIH have increased funding, and November 12th has been designated as International CJD Awareness Day. These milestones are a testament to the impact of our collective efforts.
