Hello! 

As many of you know my grandfather George DeLage, who was known as a sharp, highly intelligent man known for his kindness and integrity, passed away from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in 2008. CJD is a rare, rapidly progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease that is due to sporadic development and accumulation of prion proteins in the brain. CJD affects hundreds of families in the US every year. At this moment in time, there is no cure nor treatment that affects diease progression which has left no options for families once a diagnosis is established. This is why raising awareness and supporting research is so important. As a member of the Cruetzfelt Jakobs Disease Foundation for many years, I am participating again in Strides for CJD to help fund initiatives that support affected families and drive research toward a better understanding of this devastating disease. By creating a team in honor of my grandfather, George DeLage, I hope to spread awareness of this disease as well as contribute to progress that could lead to effective management of Cruetzfelt Jakobs Disease.
