In the fall of 2022, my stepdad Bill started to have strange neurological symptoms. Doctors weren't sure what was going on, symptoms got worse, and he passed away in February 2023, just 3 months after symptoms started and without a certain diagnosis. We later found out that he had had CJD, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure and currently no therapies. I am joining Strides for CJD this fall and fundraising for the CJD Foundation in his honor. Hopefully we will have a cure in the future and other families will not have to go through this. It's even more important to fundraise this year as funding for the foundation and research is in danger of being cut. We miss Bill every day. Please consider donating. Thank you!!

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Funds raised support our programs including:
Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
