We walk in honor of our Uncle Jorge. He was the definition of the best uncle. Our Uncle Jorge was the guy who was always there for everyone's life milestones showing his love and support. Every birthday, baby shower, baptism, first communion, wedding, and even bridal showers, he was there- not only to party; but, to help with keeping guests feel welcomed, making sure everyone was fed, and that the party kept going. He would be the first person there to help set-up, and he'd be the last person there making sure it was all cleaned up. His loyalty to his family, friends, and coworkers made him everyone's Uncle Jorge.
When the spring showers brought the quick-growing grass, he'd be out there cutting everyone's lawn. Falls' first batch of leaves, they'd be raked into piles already. The first snow fall, our driveways would be shoveled before we had to head out to work. He was that uncle.
Our Uncle Jorge not only provided for his family, but went above and beyond his family man duties to make sure we had everything we needed. His hardworking and selflessness made him who he was.
When our uncle fell sick, it turned our world upside down. The man with the infectious smile wasn't smiling anymore. He suddenly became very quiet. We knew something was wrong. The moment he fell sick, we needed to give him the same support and comfort he had given us our whole lives. We walk in honor of our perfect, loving, supportive, strong-willed Uncle Jorge. We walk to raise money for a cure for the disease that took him too soon from us. We walk to raise awareness and for families struggling to find answers. We walk for him.
