Our beloved Shirley was a devoted mother of three, dedicated pediatric occupational therapist, and fun loving sister, daughter, and aunt. She was tragically taken from us on March 22, 2025 at the young age of 59. She was healthy and full of life prior to this dreadful disease. Her symptoms were subtle at first and began in late summer of 2024. By Christmas, we knew something was seriously wrong. She rapidly declined until her death. Her children are trying to live with the enormous gap left in their lives. Our whole family is heartbroken. We miss and love her and will carry on her legacy of loving life every day.

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
