About Strides for CJD Central Indiana
Adam is hosting the first-ever Strides for CJD in Central Indiana in honor of his wife Stacey of 19 years who died from CJD in January 2025, only 84 days after her first symptom appeared. She was just 45 years old.
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare, fatal brain disorder within a group of illnesses called prion diseases. In the United States there are approximately 600 new CJD cases per year. There is no treatment or cure but there are promising new research studies every year.
In 2025, Adam attended the Denver Strides for CJD event, where Stacey’s brother lives. It was inspiring to meet others in the CJD community and be part of an event creating awareness and contributing to the CJD Foundation’s fundraising and research goals.
He knew he wanted to make meaning out of his family’s loss and honor and remember Stacey by starting an Indiana Strides for CJD event.
“I want to do all I can to raise awareness and funds and advocate for research that leads to treatment and a cure. Please join us in raising money to find a cure for the disease that took Stacey too soon,” said Adam.
The Central Indiana Strides for CJD is on [date] from [time] at [location]. The event will feature a 5K walk, memory wall, and prizes and raffles.
In Honor of Stacey (Smith) Bouse
Stacey lived a life filled with love, dedication, generosity, and service. There are so many things you should know about Stacey. She was a dedicated runner, completing her fifth marathon just weeks before the symptoms of CJD began. She was a math whiz and completed her certification to be a financial planner just days before her symptoms began.
Above all, being a mom was her greatest joy. Stacey's commitment to her community was inspiring. She faithfully served at the local soup kitchen and YWCA, was deeply involved in fundraising efforts for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and served on the school PTO board.
