Virtual Strut for Strays 2020

STRUT WHERE YOU LIKE IN SUPPORT OF C.A.R.E.

Like almost everything in our 2020 world, our 25th Annual Strut for Strays is going to be a little different—and a lot more socially distanced—than our past 24 fundraising events. We’ll still be giving out our famous Strut Goodie Bags and T-shirts. But, this year, instead of gathering in one location and embarking together on a 2.5-mile walk, we’ll all be strutting on our own—any time, anywhere—from Saturday, October 3 to Saturday, October 10. We’ll “get together” by sharing photos of our walks on social media or by email. Photos will be entered into our #VIRTUALSTRUT2020 contest.

While we’ve had to go virtual this year for the safety of our strutters and our community, we’re still rescuing and finding homes for pets and also have expanded our pet food pantry operations. Please help us raise money to care for the many animals that C.A.R.E. finds homes for each year. To prepare a pet for adoption, it costs at least $300 per dog or cat and $500 per puppy or kitten.

So pick your own path or use our maps and walk near one of our three Strut Swag Pickup events. And help us help our four-legged friends.

Everyone! The great thing about a virtual event is that everyone can participate from anywhere! Adopted a C.A.R.E. pet but moved away? You can register and then walk in your own neighborhood!

Virtual Walk in your own neighborhood and we’ll ship your Strut Swag to you!

*Goodie Bags guaranteed to the first 200 registrants. Every registrant will get a shirt featuring the new 2020 Strut logo!

FUNDRAISING PROGRAM

All participants are encouraged to register as Fundraising Participants and creating a page, with the goal of raising enough money to sponsor one or more dogs, cats, kittens or puppies. The average cost for veterinary care for adult dogs and cats is $300, $500 for puppies and kittens.

You can also create a team and invite your friends to join and fundraise for your team. The team with the most money raised wins a Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting* for up to 15 people at Sketchbook Brewing Co. in Skokie.

STRUT SWAG PICKUP EVENTS

Pick up your Strut Goodie Bag and T-shirt at one of our events. These events will take place outdoors. Maintain social distancing of 6 feet. Masks required and animal related masks are encouraged!

• Saturday, October 3rd - 11 am to 2 pm
  Kickoff at Evanston Subaru in Skokie, 3340 Oakton St., Skokie.
  In conjunction with Evanston Subaru’s USO Virtual BBQ Fundraiser. Make a $10 donation to the USO and get a coupon for a Culver’s Combo Meal Gift Card (Skokie location).
  Walk option: Northshore Sculpture Park Path from Oakton Street north to Dempster Street and back. Download map.

If you’re not local, choose the shipping option at registration. Strut Swag will be mailed out after the event.

WHERE IS THE WALK?

The walk can be in your own neighborhood or park, or if you come to one of our Strut Swag Pickup Events, you can walk a nearby path.

WHEN IS THE WALK?

You can walk any time or day between Saturday, October 3, and Saturday, October 10.

SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST
Share photos of your Strut on social media or by email. Use #VIRTUALSTRUT2020 on your post, or email your photos to strut@carenorthshore.org to be entered into our raffle for local business gift certificates. One entry per post or email.

TEAM FUNDRAISING PRIZE
The team that raises the most money by Saturday, Oct 10, wins a Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting* at Sketchbook Brewing Company's new location in Skokie. In addition, each team member will have the opportunity to name a C.A.R.E. dog or cat available for adoption.

*The fundraising contest ends at 11:59 pm CDT Saturday, Oct 10. The Sketchbook Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting is limited to 15 people. Captain of the winning team will be notified by C.A.R.E. no later than Monday, Oct 12.
