IN MEMORY OF MY SISTER ELLEN & IN HONOR OF ALL AFFECTED BY BREAST CANCER
I will be attending NBCC Leadership Summit in Washington DC again in April again this year in my sister Ellen Boyle’s memory. My sister was a breast cancer survivor for 27 years and suffered with many other health conditions as a result of the chemo she received after her diagnosis. She died August 17th 2021 most likely related to all the complications.
THIS IS MY 17TH YEAR OF BREAST CANCER ADVOCACY. As many of you know I am a 2 time breast cancer survivor. First diagnosed in 2004 at the age of 46 and again with a second primary breast cancer in 2008. My mother, 2 Aunts and my best friend died of the disease. My beautiful niece, a single mother was diagnosed at the age of 32 with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. And that's just my family. After 17 surgeries and two rounds of chemotherapy myself I decided I needed to do something.
Every year since 2009 I have been going to Washington DC with the National Breast Cancer Coalition to ask Congress to continue the funding of evidence based research to end this disease. I was fortunate enough to be invited as an educated breast cancer advocate several times to work with research scientists to help in the process of deciding which research would be funded. There are severl other health related issues we need help with and we work hard to achieve. There is MUCH WORK TO BE DONE.
I am asked to raise money before the Summit this year in April in DC. The climate in DC keeps trying to take away funding and it is more important than ever to be a voice to keep the funding for research in the budget. I realize everyone has something important to give their money to. Would you consider a donation to help me continue my advocacy? I have the knowledge and the passion to help end this disease. I don't want to lose another person to this disease. We need to END BREAST CANCER. Will you help me?
As a leader, I will be attending NBCC's Advocate Leadership Summit with over 250 grassroots leaders representing organizations, individuals and families impacted by breast cancer. We are giving up four days out of our busy lives to study the facts about breast cancer, learn how to be leaders in ending the disease and develop plans to advocate for change. I appreciate your support.
With Love,
Marie
