I’m thrilled to be participating in Summit Champion, a fundraiser supporting National Breast Cancer Coalition! I have been passionate about this cause since 1998 and need your help! Every donation—big or small—helps me reach my fundraising goal and directly impacts this important cause.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994 at the age of 26.  I worried that this disease would kill me and in 1998 I co-founded the Young Survival Coalition which is a board member organization of The National Breast Cancer Coalition's where our mission is to End Breast Cancer through education, advocacy and research.  Ending breast cancer is important to me because I have a 23 year old daughter and young nieces who do not need to hear the words, "you have breast cancer" and I know that the only way to prevent that is through increased research dollars at the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program and that was created through the advocacy efforts of NBCC.  In addition, we use evidence and science to join important decision making panels as advocates to insure that our voices are heard.  I have testified before the Senate Appropriations Panel representing women across the country and have sat on panels at the Institute of Medicine and other bodies where informed breast cancer advocates are needed.  NBCC helps me to fight the disease and I believe this purpose is the best medicine for not just me, but for women across the world.
