Tony’s Totes is a donation based organization started by Cackie Schwanekamp, a recent graduate of Cardinal Pacelli School in Mount Lookout (Cincinnati, Ohio). Cackie’s 8th grade class participated in a capstone project in which the students had to find a need within their community and find a way to make a difference. The inspiration for this charity came from Cackie’s late Grandfather, Dr. Tony Salem who passed away in April 2020. Cackie saw her grandfather’s battle with Parkinson’s disease become more challenged at the start of the pandemic. His weekly therapy sessions started declining due to Covid restrictions and social distancing therefore he had to do his therapy and exercises all on his own at the age of 82. The items included in the therapy bags are tools and tips that helped Tony get along better each day and inspired the Amazon wish list used to seek donations. Cackie wanted to help others fighting this disease and make a difference in their daily lives.
Feel free to spread the word about Tony’s Totes and follow along as we hope to grow this organization in the months and years ahead.
