I am running the New York City Marathon for Soccer Without Borders, which is a non-profit that uses soccer as a way to positively impact the lives of newcomer immigrant, refugee, and asylee youth. 

Underserved youth lack the social capital, financial resources, academic support, and often the English language skills to be successful in the United States and internationally. Soccer Without Borders’ mission is to help underserved youth overcome these barriers to success.

Harnessing the potential to use soccer as a platform for inclusion and building community, Soccer Without Borders creates a team environment where participants feel safe to take risks (Practicing English), try new things, and develop relationships with caring peers and adults (build social capital). Soccer Without Borders participants gain access to experiences and opportunities they otherwise would not benefit from, including educational support, team-building activities, civic engagement, and cultural exchange.

Why is it important to donate? A significant reason why Soccer Without Borders is able to offer its programming free of cost for its participants and remain fully inclusive is because of the generous giving of individuals!. ⚽️
