My story


 When I got home from Camp Swift, I was a mess.  I was physically exhausted, sleep deprived and mentally destroyed.   I say this not to sound bashful or negative but to show just how great of an experience Camp Swift is.  If someone such as me, who dislikes any such discomfort is willing to brave the pain, to participate in Swift, it is because it is something I belive in.  While I was at Swift, our group had a activity: the rock wall.  Now many of these kids, it was the first time they had ever even seen a rock wall much less climb one.  And I had this one kid, David, who had never done rock wall climbing before.  So hesitantly we started on the first rock wall.  He went up it quickly.  We moved onto the next.  And the next.  Finally, we had reached the last, most difficult one.  It had a steep ledge that was doubly as big as david was wide.  He went up, and fell right down.  We sat down and planned his way up.  He fell down again.  I taught him to use his legs to push himself up.  Finally, on the third attempt, he made it to the top, without any help except the strength in his own muscles. His smile could have lit a room. that memory made it worth all those sleepless nights, all of those challenges and hurdles I had to pass.  And near the end of camp, he asked Mike how to become a counselor.  Because he wanted to be just like me.  He wanted to walk in my footsteps and he looked up to me.  And that feeling of having others want to follow you, to want to be helped and improved by you, is why I want to join Team Swift.   By doing this, I would be able to not only be more heavily influenced by Swift, but also it would allow me to continue to create those moments and memories.  That is why I ask you to contribute to this goal and to help me continue provinding these memories to kids year in and year out.
