Dear Friends and Family,
This Spring I'll be participating in my 5th Swim a Mile/Move a Mile for Women with Cancer and I hope you'll support me again or make a contribution for the first time.
I'll be walking in memory of my mother who died of cancer 61 years ago and many others who have succumbed to the disease, as well as for survivors (like me) who have triumphed over it. Unfortunately the list has only grown over the past year so it's more important than ever to support The Women's Cancer Resource Center (WCRC).
For 40 years, WCRC has been a resource for local women, non-binary individuals and families navigating cancer, providing free services like practical support, connections to care, and a place to be heard and feel understood. These services make a real difference for over 900 East Bay cancer patients and survivors WCRC serves each year. The Swim A Mile/Move A Mile for Women with Cancer is a fun and inspiring annual fundraiser that benefits the work of WCRC.
Cancer is something that touches so many lives. WCRC ensures that no one has to navigate it alone and I'm proud to support their work again this year. Since 1986, WCRC’s mission has been to improve quality of life for women with cancer and advance equity in cancer support, especially for low-income persons, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Free services include psychotherapy, support groups, art and wellness classes, community-based patient navigation, and information and referral to community resources.
