Dear Friends and Family,
It’s time once again for my annual Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer!
This marks my 23rd year participating in this event. While much has changed since I first jumped into the pool over two decades ago, my connection to the Women’s Cancer Resource Center (WCRC) has only deepened – often in ways I didn't quite expect.
Finding Strength on the Mat
As many of you know, I’ve been volunteering as a yoga teacher for the women served by the WCRC. Leading these classes has given me a front-row seat to the miracles your donations fund.
When I’m working with my WCRC yogis, I see more than just "patients." I see women reclaiming their bodies and their breath. I see the quiet strength in a student who, despite the exhaustion of treatment, finds her way to the mat with a warm, expectant smile.
In our practice, we talk about "finding your center." For these women, WCRC is that center. It’s the place that provides the patient navigation, the financial assistance, and the community support that allows them to show up on the mat and focus on healing.
Last year, I wrote to you about how fleeting and precious our time is. My students have shown me how to make that time count. Seeing their resilience inspires me to swim every lap of the Swim A Mile with more intention.
Will you help me support them again this year?
The WCRC remains a “sacred, loving avenue of support,” and they offer their services for free. Your donation directly impacts the over 900 clients they serve annually – most of whom are navigating cancer while also facing financial or systemic hurdles.
The Prayer List
As always, the most important part of my swim is the prayer list. Whether you are able to donate or not, please send me (kelzbk@aol.com) the names of anyone you would like me to carry in my heart as I swim. Whether it’s healing thoughts, good vibes, or prayers, I will take them into the water with me.
With so, so much love,
Kelly
