In November 2016, we were informed that our 2 week old son had a Grade 3 brain bleed that was causing the ventricles in his brain to enlarge. We were flown from our small Midwestern North Dakota hospital to Minneapolis Children's. We had no idea what to expect, but we knew that we were leaving the comfort of a small hospital to a large unknown. When we arrived in Minneapolis, we were greeted by a caring NICU staff. We also met a doctor who's hometown was just 30 miles away from where we live. He welcomed us and told us that we were in great hands. He was so right! Our second day there our son had surgery to have a Rickham Reservoir placed. We never once felt like we were in a large city while we were in the hospital. Our nurses were amazing and became friends. I'm not sure how we could have made it through our days without the staff and care that we received there.
