Owen's first seizure happened on September 13, 2017. We were on a family vacation in Wisconsin Dells playing in the arcade when Owen began wondering around, vomited and was unresponsive. It was terrifying to watch. This episode lead to many doctors appointments and tests. It was determined that this event was a seizure. We also linked some night time sleep walking/vomiting episodes that had been happening the past few years to seizures.
This new information, along with further testing lead to a diagnosis of epilepsy.
This diagnosis changed Owen's life. He started a daily medication to control the seizures, as well as a rescue medication in case he has a seizure lasting more than 5 minutes.
Adjusting to Owen's epilepsy diagnosis has been challenging for Owen and our family. Owen struggles with not feeling normal and often gets frustrated that he has to deal with seizures.
We are fortunate Owen's seizures have been controlled with medication. His last seizure was in April of 2018. We are very grateful for every seizure free day.
