About LSS CHOICES

LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, Franklin County’s only domestic violence focused shelter, offers victims and their children a safe place to go to break the cycle of domestic violence and begin the healing process. Our 24-hour crisis hotline, and community advocates, counseling, peer support groups, and other critical services help victims leave behind abusive relationships and create a safer future for themselves and their loved ones.

24-hour Domestic Violence Crisis, Information and Referral Line
Hotline staff is trained in safety planning and also provide information as well as referrals based on caller’s individual needs.

Temporary Emergency Shelter
The shelter, which is at an unpublished location, offers a safe refuge for victims and their children who are in imminent danger and have no safe place to go.

Community & Legal Advocacy Services
Community advocates help connect victims with other programs and services to overcome barriers related to domestic violence. Case managers can also offer legal advocacy to clients of CHOICES.

Domestic Violence Crisis Counseling 
Individual counseling is provided by licensed professionals to aid in recovery from trauma related to domestic violence.

Community Education Speakers Bureau
Education is the first step in the prevention of domestic violence. LSS CHOICES strives to educate the community at large about domestic violence in general and CHOICES’ programs and services specifically. Our Speakers Bureau is available to speak or exhibit at community or business events in Franklin County. Contact us if you need a speaker or an information table for your event.

How to identify abuse

Domestic violence occurs when one person in a relationship uses a pattern of behavior to control the other person. While many commonly associate domestic abuse with physical violence, it can also include other forms or signs, such as emotional/psychological abuse, economic abuse or sexual abuse.
