I have never run a half marathon in my life, I actually REALLY dislike running long distances, but when our school needed to raise funds for an inclusive playground and I saw how few people had signed up to help raise the money....my friend Katie talked me into stepping up with her for our kids school!
I am fundraising for a very special cause. One of the first graders in our school was born with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) - Diseases | Muscular Dystrophy Association (mda.org) This student uses a wheelchair, and the playground at our elementary school is not very accessible. We are raising funds to have an inclusive merry go round installed. This piece of equipment is not only fun for all children, but this student can use it without assistance and alongside her friends. It will benefit everyone in our community for years to come. The funds raised by our school through team NEF will come directly back to our school, and our principal has committed to putting those funds towards the merry go round project. Any contributions, no matter how small, will be very much appreciated.
