My first marathon and my first year as a novice!!!
I'm running the 2025 Bank of America Chicago to support Mission of Our Lady of the Angels! This is the first Marathon I have ever run!!! At this point, all the long runs on my training plan will be the longest I've ever run!! Please pray for me for no injuries and a good experience.
Mission of Our Lady of the Angels (OLA for short!) exists to provide material and spiritual support to W. Humboldt Park, Chicago- one of the most challenged neighborhoods in the US. The Mission feeds about 4400 families a month, provides additional material and pastoral support to families, youth, and senior citizens, and, most importantly, brings the love of Christ to a neighborhood desperately in need of hope. More info about the Mission at www.missionola.com.
I am currently a novice with the Franciscans of the Eucharist of Chicago who run Mission OLA. Being a novice means that this is a special 2-year time set aside for me to get used to the life and pray a LOT - so I learn more about who God is and and who I am in Christ. Being a novice is meant to help me discern if this is my life-long vocation. These Catholic sisters and brother have given their lives to God in a unique way through a commiment to prayer and service. They take the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. We're called Franciscans because we try to follow the example of St. Francis of Assisi who was very focused on living the Gospel. More information about the Franciscans at franciscansoftheeucharistofchicago.com. Thank you so much for your support!!
Funds raised from Team OLA 2025 will be used to:
(1) Help the Mission expand its food pantry + other material distributions
-Mission of Our Lady of the Angels currently serves about 4000 families a month- and growing!
-Help the Mission continue to expand and improve this outreach.
-Particular need for help covering our first Saturday pantry and our diaper program
(2) Help the Mission renovate an additional convent for more sisters!
-We need a separate convent for our young sisters in formation (that's me as well as future classes of men and women who willl join us!!) This renovation project is essential to the future expansion of our material and spiritual outreach. IAdditional details about the project will be released once they are available!
Donate today to be part of the miracle that is TEAM OLA!
The Mission is a 501(c)(3) and relies entirely on the donations of private donors.
Mother's Day Lunch at Mission OLA
About once a month we have a community event for neighbors - mothers day brunch was one of my favorites this year
Mission OLA's pantry!
Lots of food, lots of variety! We have the pantry every Tuesday and serve 450 families a week. I normally work in the check-in room. Because we're moving so many people through, it can be hard to get to know the neighbors who come, but over time I'm learning names and faces!

Sister Anna, Sister Kristine, and I on our entrance day with Bishop Bob in 9/2024
By the marathon- I'll be here for over one year! In May, us three became novices - which means we started to wear the Franciscan habit and get called sisters now. It's been a busy year full of many good things here
Me on an early training run on Lake Michigan!!
Myself and the other sisters training will often run on the lakefront trail - the water is always beautiful!! This was earlier in the spring - now that I wear a veil I run with a bandana on my head. But in a t-shirt and basketball shorts like normal
Diaper donation!!
Myself, Sister Anna, and sister Stephanie unloading a diaper donation. We provide diapers to about 150 families a week. It is so cool to support parents in this way! The funding for diapers is completely reliant on donations
