I'm running the 2025 Bank of America Chicago to support Mission of Our Lady of the Angels! I am so grateful for your support and your prayers. Please be assured of my prayers for you!
Mission of Our Lady of the Angels exists to provide material and spiritual support to W. Humboldt Park, Chicago- one of the most challenged neighborhoods in the US. The Mission feeds about 4400 families a month, provides additional material and pastoral support to families, youth, and senior citizens, and, most importantly, brings the love of Christ to a neighborhood desperately in need of hope. Funds raised from Team OLA 2025 will be used to:
(1) Help the Mission expand its food pantry + other material distributions
-We participated in a program where we received 45,000 diapers a month for free. This program abruptly ended, and we are now purchasing our own diapers to support our neighbors. We serve many families with infants and small children who don't have the resources to get diapers and child care supplies.
-Our smaller, Saturday pantry was completely cut from the food bank. The number of people we are serving has not changed.
-We continue to serve about 4000 families a month with food. About 1250 of those families receive diapers.
(2) Cover operating expenses
-We have very large and old buildings. All of our programs are offered at no cost, including our retreat programs.
-Our operating budget runs around $1 million each year.
3) Renovate the convent at St. Hyacinth for future sisters!
-We are renovating the former convent at St. Hyacinth to be our new house of formation for young sisters. What is a house of formation? It's a location separate from the main work of the Mission, where sisters early in their formation have space for prayer, study and growing closer to God.
The Mission is a 501(c)(3) and relies entirely on the donations of private donors. The Chicago Marathon is our only formal fundraiser of the year. Donate today to be part of the miracle that is TEAM OLA! Thank you so, so much for your support!
