My Story

I believe connecting people through sports and physical activity is instrumental in spreading a culture of inclusion, acceptance, and joy. Special Children's Charities is working to create a more inclusive Chicago... one mile at a time!

The mission of Special Children's Charities, the fundraising arm of Special Olympics Chicago, is to provide year-round athletic sports training and athletic competition for children and adults in Chicago with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

I've been inspired to run my first marathon with Team Special Children's Charities because I have seen the positive impact this organization has on the lives of those involved. My cousin, Joy, has been an active member with Special Olympics Pennsylvania since she was eight years old. Eight years later, she's had the opportunity to particiapte in soccer, swimming, basketball, and track. From scoring her first goal in a soccer game, to making new friends at practice, Joy has experienced the lasting impact of being apart of a team.

By donating to the Special Children's Charities, you will impact the lives of thousands of athletes in Chicago's 77 neighborhoods, with 70% living at or below the poverty level. Donations will support programs such as year-round athletic training and competitions, life-enriching educational programs, art and music therapy, and the After 22 Project for athletes aging out of the Chicago Public Schools.

I am proud to support the extraorindary work of the Special Children's Charities so more people can experience the pride, belonging, and friendship that comes from being involved in this life-changing organization. I hope that you consider supporting my efforts and the thousands of Special Children's superstar athletes!
