The saying goes, "third times the charm" and as I prepare to run my third marathon, I am excited to share that I am participating in the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on behalf of Team Special Olympics Chicago supporting Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities!
My inspiration to start running dates back to when my mom would push me and my sister in a stroller while she trained for the Chicago Marathon each year. She ran with Opportunity Enterprises, which is a non-profit organization that strives to help individuals with developmental disabilities reach their fullest potential and live a full, enriching life.
15 out of her 27 marathons were spent raising money and awareness for Opportuninty Enterprises, and her commitment to raising money for a special organization is what inspired me to want to get involved with a similar charity, and I feel lucky to be able to run with Team Special Olympics Chicago.
Team Special Olympics Chicago is a group of runners dedicated to supporting thousands of Chicagoans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and I am proud to be a member of this team. I believe connecting people through sports and physical activity is instrumental in spreading a culture of inclusion, acceptance, and joy. Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children's Charities is working to create a more inclusive Chicago... one mile at a time!
