I'm excited to announce that I will be running the Chicago Marathon in memory of my sister Kimberlee, who passed away in 2016, and on behalf of Special Children’s Charities (formerly known as Special Olympics Chicago). Kimberlee was born with Osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare disorder that makes bones fragile and prone to breaking. She was loving, brave, and the best big sister, influencing every part of my life and shaping who I am today. 

Throughout her life, I saw firsthand not only the difficulties and challenges Kimberlee faced because of her disability but also the incredible support she received. That support made a profound difference in her quality of life and lifted her spirits.

SCC aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within the disability community. I’m proud to be part of Team SCC in the Chicago Marathon, raising funds to provide the same kind of support that Kimberlee received. These funds will help children and adults in Chicago with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experience a positive quality of life and have the opportunity to participate in activities in a supportive environment.
