I believe connecting people through sports and physical activity is instrumental in spreading a culture of inclusion, acceptance, and joy. Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children's Charities is working to create a more inclusive Chicago- one mile at a time.

Team Special Children's Charities- Chicago is a group of runners dedicated to supporting thousands of Chicagoans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and I am beyond excited and proud to be a member of this team!

This year I will be running in honor of my Uncle Rory. He was a longtime participant and I know this organization changed his life for the better. He was beyond proud to be a Special Olympic athlete, displaying all the medals he received over the years (which my cousins and I thoroughly enjoyed trying on - pictured above).

Coming up on two years since his passing, I was terrified to apply for this race having never run a marathon.. but I did what my uncle would do and decided to face this challenge (and lifelong dream of mine) head on. While I was unable to complete this goal last year, thanks to an ACL injury - we are back and ready to run!!
