Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago. 

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what we strive to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.

As a special education teacher, I have always had a passion for empowering students with disabilities, especially through sports. I’ve seen the transformative impact that sports can have on fostering confidence, inclusivity, and independence in children with unique abilities. Through athletic experiences, these incredible children not only build physical strength but also develop essential life skills, forge meaningful friendships, and learn the importance of teamwork.

Participating in this marathon is more than just a personal challenge for me; it’s an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a program that supports adaptive sports initiatives in their community. Your contributions will directly support the development of inclusive sports programs, providing those with disabilities the chance to participate, and compete alongside others. 

 With your help, we can ensure that anyone, regardless of their abilities, has the chance to experience the joy and empowerment that sports can bring.
