Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

Hi, my name is Andrea Barillas, and I’ve decided to run the Chicago Marathon this year on behalf of a charity that holds a mission close to my heart.

My little brother Emilio has Down syndrome, and he has been an incredible inspiration in my life. His resilience, bravery, and amazing spirit encourage me to face challenges with the same determination. Emilio makes me brave, and he is my “why” for so many things in life.

When I discovered a charity whose mission is to help people like my brother, saying “yes” to run this amazing race was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. I’ve seen firsthand how organizations like this and the resources they provide can transform the lives of individuals with special needs and their families.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to run not just for myself, but for a cause that will directly benefit so many others like my brother. Together, with your support, we can make a meaningful impact. Your donation will go a long way in helping this incredible organization continue its work.

Thank you so much for your generosity and for joining me in supporting this mission!

Again, thank you for supporting the thousands of participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago!
