Derrick here.  If I'm going to run a marathon with a charity, I try to pick causes that are meaningful to me.  Special Children's Charities has been doing great work in Chicago since 1969 and as an uncle to a non-verbal niece, I can tell you there isn't enough help out there for families and children in need of extra assistance to help special children live their best lives with how tough times can be for parents and families in general.

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.  For this cause, I am honored to be one of their charity runners this year.
