The theme of my life and what drives me has always been helping others. I attribute much of this to my sister Melanie. When she was born, there were many things my family was told she would never do. Melanie thrived for her 16 years with us through hard work and generosity of so many.

One of those organizations that opened my eyes to how amazing the world can be is Special Olympics. Melanie looked forward to these events every year. It is through organizations like Special Children's Charities that special needs children can thrive. This is why I am so passionate about this cause and thrilled to be running the Chicago Marathon with this team.

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago. 

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what SCC strives to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, they are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.
