I am thrilled to be running the Chicago Marathon 2025 with #TeamSCC, supporting Special Children’s Charities—an organization dedicated to empowering children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Chicago.

This cause is deeply personal to me. Growing up in Venezuela, I saw firsthand how difficult it was for families to find the support they needed for children with special needs. I have three family members with special needs, and in Venezuela, due to the country’s political and economic challenges, resources for them were incredibly limited. There were few organizations, little awareness, and even less support. It was heartbreaking to see the struggles families faced.

By running for Special Children’s Charities, I feel like I am giving back in a way that fills my heart. This organization provides the opportunities, inclusion, and encouragement that I wish every child with special needs could have.

This marathon is also a huge personal milestone for me. After undergoing two Achilles surgeries, I never thought I’d be able to run again, let alone train for 26.2 miles. But after just eight months of running, I’m taking on this challenge not only for myself but for the children and families who rely on SCC’s incredible programs.
