Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

Fulfilling a dream that I never thought would be possible—Running has given me the opportunity to truly connect with my dad and be apart of the running community that he loved so deeply. He completed the Chicago marathon four times and I'm honored to run this one for him.  He was a professor of educational and school psychology at Indiana State University and worked training school psychologists. He also developed the CASS programs to help students with educational struggles and wrote books about ADHD which makes teaming up with special children’s charities the perfect choice.

Through all of the challenges last year brought, I haven't stopped running. I want to be an example for my daughter. Working full-time, putting my family first and hitting personal goals is not easy, but it’s achievable. I'm excited (and a little nervous) to get training!

Your support in helping me achieve this goal will be my driving force in completing this milestone.

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago.

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what we strive to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.

If you wish to make a donation via check, please send to the address below and they will credit the donation to my fundraising page. Please make sure to include my name (or the person you would like to support) in the memo section.

Please make all checks payable to Special Children's Charities.
